Governor Honors Turcotte This Week

This week, though, the state government honored Turcotte's service.
issued a proclamation that flags at the State House in Trenton would be flown at half-mast the week of June 4 in Turcotte's honor.

The flag-lowering was to "recognize [Turcotte's] committment to the welfare and safety of others, to mark his passing, to honor his memory, and to remember his many friends and family as they mourn their tragic loss," said the proclamation signed by the governor.
The honor marked the state's recognition of Turcotte's "dedication, determination, and selfless devotion to the welfare and safety of others."

Turcotte, 58, died of a heart attack after driving a fire engine to the arson-set fire. Hundreds of firefighters throughout the state turned out for his funeral.
