Groundbreaking of Major New PSEG Power Plant in Sewaren
The new plant, called Sewaren 7, will replace the nearly 70-year-old Sewaren switching station, which was devastated by Superstorm Sandy.

Woodbridge, NJ - PSE&G broke ground Tuesday on its biggest, most expensive power plant in the state, which will be located in Sewaren.
The new plant, called "Sewaren 7," will replace the nearly 70-year-old Sewaren switching station, which was devastated by Superstorm Sandy in 2012. The new plant will be cleaner, PSE&G says, and will generate power more efficiently.
Sewaren 7 represents an investment of more than $600 million and is expected to be up and running by summer 2018. Senate President Stephen Sweeney and Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac were on hand Tuesday for the groundbreaking.
