Halloween Events Off to a Wet Start as Hayride is Cancelled

But the good news is that it's rescheduled for tomorrow, along with other Halloween events through the weekend.

The rainy weather has caused the cancellation of the Halloween hayride.

The event, one sponsored by the township's recreation department, had been slated to take place Thursday afternoon. It's been postponed until Friday, Oct. 28.

The rescheduled event will be held tomorrow from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the on Rahway Ave.

The hayride will coincide with another Halloween-related activity, "Build Your Own Scarecrow." That takes place at the Parker Press Park as well from 3 to 5 pm.

  • Halloween Storytime at the from 7 to 8:30 pm on Friday, Oct. 28 for children from ages 2 to 9. Costumes are encouraged. For more info, call 732-634-7571;
  • A Halloween Parade, devoted to getting children to trick or treat on Main St. The event will culminate in judging costumes with prizes at , all to be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 29;
  • The is holding its 14th Annual Halloween Haunted House and Festival on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29. The Happy Haunted House, geared for younger children, is from 6 to 7 pm, followed by a Scary Haunted House from 7 to 9:30 pm. The haunted house is being held at the old Linens and Things building on Green St. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children.
