Identity Released of Man Killed in Woodbridge Car Crash

Police have released to Patch the identity of the man killed Friday night in a car accident in Woodbridge Township.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ - Police have released to Patch the identity of the man killed Friday night in a car accident on the Woodbridge/Carteret border.

Larry Haywood, 50, of Rahway, was killed in a two-car accident on Port Reading Avenue that occurred at 11:45 p.m. Friday, Sgt. James Chessere of the Woodbridge Police Department's Traffic Unit said. Haywood's car crashed into an oncoming vehicle in a head-on collision. The accident happened on Port Reading Avenue near Henry Street, on the border between Carteret and the Port Reading section of Woodbridge.

The three people in the other car, one from Perth Amboy and the other two from Woodbridge Township, suffered minor injuries in the crash. Haywood, however, was pronounced DOA at the scene.

Sgt. Chessere said the exact cause of the head-on collision remains under investigation.
