September Starts Flu Shot Season

Make your appointments for flu and pneumonia vaccines this month.


The is holding Flu and Pneumonia clinics this month. The schedule is: 

  • Friday, Sept. 14 from 9 am to noon at the , 400 Inman Avenue, Colonia
  • Friday, September 21 from 4:30 pm to 7 pm at the , 2 George Frederick Plaza, Woodbridge

The flu and pneumonia vaccine shots using a standard syringe are free to Medicare patients, who must present a valid Medicare card.  For others, the cost of the  flu vaccination is $15.00 and the pneumonia vaccination is $60.00.  Woodbridge residents are encouraged to call the Health Center’s Nursing Division at 732-855-0600, Ext. 5011 or 5012 for more information.  Individuals with handicaps should call Ext. 5011 to schedule an individual appointment.

The flu shots are recommended for adults over age 50, health care providers, caretakers for high risk patients, residents of nursing homes and other institutions housing long-term care patients, women who will be in the second or third trimester of pregnancy during flu season and individuals with chronic heart and lung problems, diabetes, and conditions that lower body resistance.

Healthy adults 65 years of age and older and adults of any age with chronic heart and lung disease or serious chronic disease that may affect the lungs should receive a one-time dose pneumonia vaccine.
