Large Carteret Apartment Complex Fire Underway

Firefighters are currently on the scene of a large apartment complex fire at the Bristol Station complex in Carteret as of 2 p.m. Friday.

CARTERET, NJ — Firefighters are currently on the scene of a large apartment complex fire at the Bristol Station complex in Carteret as of 2 p.m. Friday, a town spokesman confirmed to Patch.

The fire is in Building 4, adjacent to Beverly Street. Mutual aid from participating towns has been dispatched and are on scene as well.

The Bristol Station complex fire resulted in a complete loss of Building 4, which is comprised of 48 units and nearly 75 residents.

So far, there are only a few minor injuries, which are not life-threatening, said a Carteret town spokesman.

However fire suppression continues and then inspectors will conduct a thorough investigation.

One hundred percent of all donations received will go to the residents affected by the fire at Bristol Station.

It is expected that emergency activity will continue in the area for some time as they fight to extinguish the fire and secure the building. It is unknown if all residents were able to evacuate the building.

Residents are encouraged to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel access. No additional information is available at this time.

"We pray for the safety of all of the responding first responders and the residents of the building," said a Carteret town spokesman.
