Latest Woodbridge Coronavirus Updates
Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Woodbridge:

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — As of Friday morning, Woodbridge Township has 54 positive coronavirus cases, according to Mayor John McCormac.
That is up from 28 positives on Thursday, the largest jump so far. However, public health officials have predicted for weeks now that the case number will skyrocket as more and more people get tested. The U.S. is said to have done more testing than any other country in the world.
The cases are spread out geographically all over Woodbridge and they are split evenly between men and women, according to McCormac.

"Ages range from 76 all the way down to 14, although that young man has been fever-free for three days, which is great news," said Mayor McCormac.
A 65-year-old man died due to virus complications earlier this week in East Brunswick, East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen confirmed. Whether or not he had an underlying health complications was not released by the state health department. He is the second covid19-death in Middlesex County to date.

As of Thursday, the state of New Jersey has tested 20,537 people: 13,661 were negative and 6,876 were positive. There are 411 positive cases in Middlesex County.
Woodbridge is still reeling from how the coronavirus impacted St. Joseph's Senior Home this week, where 24 of the residents and five staff members tested positive for the virus. Three of those residents died this week.
On Wednesday, the home was shut down by the state and all the residents were transferred to a new facility in Whippany. All the remaining St. Joe's residents are being treated as if they are positive for the virus.
Nonetheless, McCormac praised it as an example of state and local officials working together.
"I would like to thank everyone who was involved in yesterday’s monumental undertaking to move 79 patients from St. Joseph’s Nursing Home to a CareOne facility up in Whippany," he said.
Schools
All New Jersey schools will remain closed indefinitely, an order that will be re-visited on April 17, Gov. Murphy said Thursday.
Businesses, grocery stores and restaurants
Woodbridge posted this list of all the restaurants in town that are still open, and whether they do home delivery or pick-up orders. They also listed all the pharmacies in Woodbridge and all the grocery stores, including whether they do delivery.
Trash pick-up
Woodbridge will continue normal trash and recycling pick-up into next week, but they have suspended bulk pickups. The Convenience Center remains open under reduced hours from 8-2 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Please remember to discard health related items in the trash, and not in the sewer.
McCormac said Woodbridge Twp. "remains in very good shape in terms of volunteers to help our homebound population thanks to the outpouring of support from our terrific residents."
Woodbridge also is "in very good shape in terms of our food pantries thanks to the Have-a-Heart Food Drive thanks to the donations of our amazing restaurants who have chipped in."
If you know someone living alone, please call or somehow check on them.
