Local Students Win Gov.'s Hispanic Fellowships
Scholars from Middlesex County College and the Woodbridge area were awarded fellowships this summer in leadership training.

Students from and the local area were among 20 scholars who received the 2012 Governor's Hispanic Fellow Program this year.
The eight-week summer program, begun in 1988, offers Hispanic college students the chance to work in a government, corporate, or non-profit environment while learning leadership skills.
Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno congratulated the recipients at a reception at the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton last week.

"Thanks to this program, young members of the Hispanic community receive important leadership training that will last a lifetime," Guadagno said in a statement. "The professional development and leadership skills these young people will acquire are invaluable and will help them prepare for future careers in business and government."
Several students who won the fellowship are Perth Amboy residents who attend Kean University, Rowan University, and Bloomfield College. Others are Middlesex County College students.
