Man Charged In Connection With Fatal Hit-&-Run In Perth Amboy
Hansel Farrier-Romero fatally struck a 72-year-old man who was crossing the road using a walker, authorities said.
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A Perth Amboy man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit and run, which occurred on the evening of Aug. 7, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Police Chief Lawrence Cattano of the Perth Amboy Police Department said Monday.
Hansel Farrier-Romero, 30 was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree leaving the Scene of an accident resulting in death, Ciccone said. According to authorities, Farrier-Romero fatally struck an old man who was crossing the road using a walker.
On Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at approximately 8:29 p.m., authorities responded to the intersection of Convery Blvd. and Pfeiffer Blvd. following the report of a white Dodge Charger that fled the scene after fatally striking the old man who was crossing the road.

On arrival, police found Rocco Chirichillo, 72, of Perth Amboy, who had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation by Detective Jose Santiago of the Perth Amboy Police Department and Detective Mark Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office identified Farrier-Romero as the driver of the white Dodge Charger who struck Chirichillo and then fled the scene.
