Man Killed At Fenix Parts In Woodbridge Identified As Husband, Father

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — This GoFundMe page has now been started for the man who was killed Dec. 28 at Fenix Auto Parts in Woodbridge.

The man has been identified as Orlando Feliciano, 38. He leaves behind a wife and two children, a 12-year-old girl and a boy, just 2. The family lives in Somerset.

Feliciano was an employee at Fenix Parts on Leesville Avenue in Avenel, and he was killed in a workplace accident there on Dec. 28, said Woodbridge Police.

This happened at 5:31 a.m.; he was crushed by a loading ramp. Feliciano is believed to have been under the loading ramp when it fell on him, Woodbridge Police said last week.

What caused the loading ramp to fall is under investigation. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has now taken over the investigation. OSHA has six months to do an investigation and release its official determination of what caused Feliciano's death.

Feliciano had been with his wife, Carmen, for 15 years, and the couple was "a blessing to their church and community," according to his friends and family, who called his death "a tragic accident."

They said the death of the husband and father of two has caused "significant emotional and financial struggles for the family."

A celebration of life will be held for Feliciano Monday night, Jan. 8, at a church the family attended in Somerset.

That same Fenix Parts shop (it is called Fenix Parts Rahway, even though it is located in Woodbridge) has been fined in the past for workplace safety violations, reported NJ.com:

The autobody shop received three citations in 2020 for having a lack of respiratory protection for workers, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, which called it a "serious" violation. Fenix Parts had to pay a $5,783 fine.
