Man Shot On Rt. 9 In Old Bridge Tuesday

A Staten Island man was shot on Rt. 9 in Old Bridge Township Tuesday, near a limousine company.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A Staten Island man was shot on Rt. 9 in Old Bridge Township Tuesday, the Middlesex County Prosecutor and Old Bridge police announced. The shooting caused a brief shelter in place at Old Bridge schools Tuesday morning.

The 44-year-old victim was hospitalized after he was wounded at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Old Bridge Police Chief William Volkert. He remains in critical condition Wednesday.

While the prosecutor said it happened at a Rt. 9 limousine business, someone who picked up the phone at Timothy Limousines told Patch the shooting happened across Rt. 9 from their business, not at it. He said he had no idea what the shooting was over. Timothy Limousines is located at 2298 Rt 9 in Old Bridge Township. The prosecutor's office did not say what the shooting was over.

The shooting is being investigated by Detective Michael Machen of the Old Bridge Police Department and Detective Mark Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation is active and is continuing.
