Fun with Chainsaws: MCC Student Carves it Up
Woodbridge resident Cristina Jordan excels at a culinary ice carving class.

It's getting warm out, a season for which Cristina Jordan will be prepared with a chainsaw, a chisel, and a block of ice.
The resident, who is a student at , showed off her best work with a chainsaw and chisel last week. She was enrolled in an ice sculpting class at the county college, part of their culinary arts department.
Jordan was one of a class full of students learning the fundamentals of ice carving. The course, taught by Chef Walter Leffler, showed students how to use chain saws to mold blocks of ice and then sculpt with chisels to create the finer details.

Ice carving isn't Jordan's only talent. The Woodbridge High School graduate and MCC sophomore also . Earlier this year, Jordan was named NJ Junior College Athletic Association Conference Female Player of the Week, among other honors.
Students who complete the course requirements can earn a degree or certificate in culinary arts.
