MCC Students Make Prom a Reality for Perth Amboy Teens
They're helping obtain donations of prom dresses for girls who might not otherwise be able to afford a gown.

"We Set the Trends,” a fashion club at (MCC), has gone beyond just talking about fashion. They've been helping teens who need prom dresses get the gowns they might not otherwise be able buy on their own.
Club members helped collect gently used prom dresses to give to girls in Perth Amboy who want to go to the prom, but for whom finances might be an issue.
The prom dress effort was done in collaboration with the , which runs a similar program.

The students collected 54 dresses, 13 pairs of shoes, and five purses from members of the college community. MCC students and "We Set the Trends" club members Taleeyah Salahuddin of Somerset, Priscilla Blanco of Carteret, and Haleigh Simon of Perth Amboy helped collected the dresses and accessories.
The fashion club promotes self-confidence, a positive self-image, leadership, and organizational skills, while encouraging future fashion professionals, the college said in a statement.
