Meet the Author: Rick Geffken

free talk about Sewaren's Boynton Beach and other lost amusement parks of New Jersey

On Wednesday, April 19 @ 7:00 pm the Woodbridge Main Library will welcome author and New Jersey historian Rick Geffken. Rick will be discussing his recently published book, Lost Amusement Parks of the North Jersey Shore. He’ll take a look at Woodbridge’s own Boynton Beach, a resort once located on the Arthur Kill in Sewaren. A book signing will follow his talk. Books will also be available for purchase for $23.50 at the presentation.


Rick is the co-author, with Don Burden, of The Story of Shrewsbury Revisited, 1965-2015. Rick has written numerous articles for various historical newsletters and blogs. He has presented historical research topics at the New Jersey History and Historic Preservation Conference and appeared on the New Jersey Cable TV show, Family Historian. Rick is also the Publisher of The Monmouth Connection.


Rick retired from a career as a sales executive for Hewlett-Packard where he spent most of his computer industry career. Previously, he owned and operated several small businesses and taught secondary school mathematics earlier in his career. He was an Adjunct Professor at Ocean County Community College in the Physical Education Department.
