Metuchen Woman Charged With Poisoning Man, Prosecutor Says

Metuchen, NJ - A Metuchen woman was indicted Wednesday on charges that she poisoned a man, prosecutors said.
Theresa Freis, 44, administered either clonazepam or benzodiazepine to the man on May 25 of this year in Metuchen, Middlesex County prosecutors said. She was arrested last Wednesday, Aug. 24, and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
The victim, whose identity is being withheld, became ill after the alleged poisoning and was taken to John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, prosecutors said. He since has recovered.
