Motorcyclist Critically Injured In Fords Hit-And-Run Sunday Night

The collision occurred at 10:02 p.m. on Ford Avenue at Arlington Street; the motorcyclist had to be airlifted from Fords Middle School.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A motorcycle and a car collided in a serious head-on collision Sunday night in the Fords section of Woodbridge, and the car fled the scene. However, the driver of the car was later apprehended, said a town spokesman.

The collision occurred at 10:02 p.m. on Ford Avenue at Arlington Street.

Police say a 39-year-old man was riding the motorcycle in his lane when a grey Honda veered into his lane. The Honda struck the motorcycle head on and the motorcyclist was thrown from the bike.

The motorcycle victim is a resident of the Fords section of Woodbridge, said town spokesman John Hagerty.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries to his legs and was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He had to be airlifted in a medical helicopter from Fords Middle School.

The Honda fled scene of the crash. However, Woodbridge Police did a search of the surrounding streets and located the driver shortly after the crash. Their name and charges against them have not been released.

The Woodbridge Police Traffic Enforcement Unit is continuing the investigation.
