One Dead In Early Morning Turnpike Crash in Woodbridge

One person has died as a result of a crash on the Turnpike this morning, police say.

The crash happened at 6:49 AM near the northbound Exit 11 interchange with the Garden State Parkway. A white Ford Excursion overturned, and the driver was ejected from the car. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and two passengers refused medical attention for minor injuries.

Delays went as far back as Exit 9 in East Brunswick this morning. The roadway was reopened when the investigation ended at 9:58, Tpr. Peele told Patch.

Police are not releasing the identity of the driver yet, pending family notification.
