Opt-Out! Stop Government Overreach!

Stop Government Conscription of Consumers!

PS&G customers throughout Woodbridge Twp. are receiving notifications which require them to "Opt Out" (NOT IN) of Mayor John McCormick's Administration's 'Energy Aggregation Program' within 30 days of receipt of a mailing from TriEagle Energy. That notification, which bears the Township’s Seal, was sent via bulk mail rates and, accordingly, could possibly be mistaken as a marketing solicitation, despite its “Important” marking on the envelope.

The letter, and postage pre-paid return card contained within the mailing, informs the reader of the savings they can expect on their electric bills by being enrolled in the “Program’, which, without their prior knowledge or consent, they already are!

If the PS&G customer fails to respond within 30 days, by signing and mailing the 'Opt Out' form back to the TriEagle, or to call to Opt-Out, they will remain conscripted into the program.

Ostensibly, the 'Program' will save consumers money on their electric bills. But will it in the long-term? According to the fine print, maybe not. And if it doesn’t, it can take a minimum of at least one billing cycle, after they receive the customer’s Opt-Out notification, to get out of the ‘Program’. Given the outcome of the Presidential election could possibly have a serious impact on energy costs, savings could be problematic, with an unknown amount of liability for the conscripted customer.

What guarantee does the customer have that they won't be hit with a large bill or billings to cover any loses the Program might incur? There are those than can speak to how they switched to a 3rd party electric supplier and were 'shocked' (pardon the pun) to learn after months of small savings on their electric bills, they were being hit with surcharges to cover the program's providers loses. In at least one case I know of with another 3rd Party electric provider, that penalty amounted to over $900.00! That customer also had to wait for 2 billing cycles to get out of the 3rd party contract and be reinstated into direct billings from PS&G!

But the real issue at hand is how dare the McCormick Administration subjugate Township residents, without prior consultation, to a ‘Program’ they must Opt-Out of, especially in such a backdoor manner!

Clearly, this isn't just case of government overreach. It is a clear case of the shear arrogance on the part of the McCormick Administration! And to that piece of chicanery, it is hoped very resident in Woodbridge Township tells McCormick and his Administration: Hey, Big Brother, Thanks but NO THANKS, OPT ME OUT!
