Perth Amboy Police: We Are Not Doing Random Immigration Checks

PERTH AMBOY, NJ - Perth Amboy police say there have been rumors circulating through the city this week that they are conducting random immigration checkpoints in cooperation with federal ICE agents.

Perth Amboy police say this is not true, and that no such checkpoints are happening.

"We understand there have been rumors circulating that the city of Perth Amboy has been associated with immigration checkpoints in various areas throughout the city in cooperation with federal immigration enforcement agents," said police. "We want to assure all of our residents that the City of Perth Amboy is NOT arranging any immigration check points, as this is NOT the duty of local law enforcement authorities."
