The Pharmacy At The Fords QuickChek Will Close

Unfortunate news if you used the pharmacy at the Fords QuickChek on New Brunswick Avenue: It will close by late November.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Unfortunate news if you used the pharmacy at the Fords QuickChek on New Brunswick Avenue: That pharmacy will be closing soon, by late November, the company announced today.

The Fords QuickChek is one of nine stores statewide slated to have their pharmacies close; the entire list is: QuickChecks in Bayonne, Beachwood, Ewing, North Bergen, Passaic, Point Pleasant, Scotch Plains and Totowa.

Customers will be directed to the nearest CVS pharmacy. QuickChek has entered into an agreement to transfer prescription records to CVS Pharmacy.

The pharmacies are closing because QuickChek, an increasingly popular New Jersey and New York-metro area convenience store, is instead choosing to focus on providing fresh food. A new design plan unveiled by the company in September devotes more than 50 percent of their stores to fresh food and beverage space. In that vein, QuickChek launched its new Mac & Cheese bowls, seasonal caramel apple beverages and limited-edition Harvest Spice coffee earlier this fall.

For example, check out the interior of the brand-new QuickChek that just opened Oct. 16 on Rt. 1 south at Avenel Street:

QuickChek and CVS Pharmacy are working together to ensure the transition will be seamless for patients, the companies promised in a statement.

The company said about 60 QuickChek pharmacy employees will be affected by the closures; they will have the opportunity to interview and apply for similar positions with CVS Pharmacy. However, there is no guarantee, of course, that all will be re-hired.
