Police Chase Stolen Car Into Avenel, Driver Crashes On Rt. 1
Edison police pursued a man driving a stolen SUV through the Avenel section of Woodbridge Monday, and he crashed on Rt. 1, police said.
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Edison police pursued a man driving a stolen SUV through the Avenel section of Woodbridge Monday, Edison police said, and the chase ended when he crashed his car into a utility pole on Rt. 1.
Police said they also found 40 opioid pills in the trunk of the stolen SUV.
Ibe O. Allah Jr., 18, of North Brunswick was arrested after the crash. The car chase originated in Edison, where police said they were first alerted to the stolen car, which was being tracked by GPS.

Officers spotted Allah on Rt. 1 near Grandview Ave., but when Allah saw the cop car, he sped away, police said. The chase ended when Allah crashed into a pickup truck and a utility pole at Rt. 1 South near Smith Street.
Allah was extricated from the damaged car, but refused medical attention before being placed under arrest, police said. He was charged with receiving stolen property, eluding police, and possession of controlled dangerous substances for 40 opioid pills that police say they found inside the stolen SUV.
