The driver, a 48-year-old Staten Island man, stayed at the scene, Hawley said. He told police he was driving home from work in Iselin when the accident occurred. He showed no signs of alcohol intoxication or impairment and voluntarily gave blood to be tested for drugs and alcohol. As of this time, no charges have been filed.
There is no crosswalk near there and West Pond Road is a busy, highly-trafficked, four-lane roadway. If anyone witnessed the incident or has any more to report, they are asked to call Officer Hawley at Woodbridge police headquarters at (732) 634-7700.
