Victim ID'd In Fatal Parkway Crash In Cranford; Friends 'Seriously Devastated'

Police say they are probing a fatal crash on a New Jersey highway. Story developing.

CRANFORD, NJ — Police have identified the victim in a fatal crash on a New Jersey highway Friday morning. Raymond Andreola, 28, formerly of Milltown, recently of Pittston, Pennsylvania, was killed in the crash.

Friends remembered Andreola soon after it was announced that he had died in the early morning crash on the Garden State Parkway.

The 6:03 a.m. crash happened at mile-marker 137.8 on the Garden State Parkway northbound in Cranford, when a Toyota sedan ran off the roadway, according to the state police.

The car crashed into a tree, and the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. All lanes were reopened as of 10 a.m.

At 8 a.m., the crash was tying up traffic for at least 6 miles on the Garden State Parkway north of Exit 136, according to the state police.

Traffic was backed up in the area on the north and southbound sides, going into Middlesex and Essex counties.

The crash had the right lane and shoulder blocked, and delays stretched into Woodbridge.
