Carlos Leiva was just visiting America when he was killed, struck by a 17-year-old teen. Now his church wants people to pray for the two children in the crash, too.

The victim in a horrific fatal New Jersey crash was identified Friday, two days after a 17-year-old boy drove a pickup truck into the wrong lane and crashed into his SUV.

Leiva, a 47-year old man from Colombia, has been identified as the fatal victim, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office. The four passengers – two adults and two children – were also taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick for their injuries. They were last reported to be in stable condition.

Leiva was the driver of a Hyundai SUV that was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup at 2:23 pm in Sayreville on Wednesday. Leiva was visiting from Colombia with family members at the time of the crash.

His family's church supporters offered a prayer on Facebook for the family as they go through their trying time, noting that one of the victims has multiple fractures. The prayer also offers "strength and comfort" for Leiva's family.

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them," according to the church, Auditorio Cristiano, quoting Matthew 18:20.

The crash happened on Raritan Street in Sayreville when the 17-year old, who was driving a Dodge Ram pickup, drove into the oncoming lane of traffic and crashed into a Hyundai SUV.

The 17-year old from Sayreville was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center. The teen’s identity is being withheld because of his age. No charges had been filed in the crash by press time.

The crash is being investigated by Patrolman David Sivilli of the Sayreville Police Department and Detective Donald Heck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation is active and is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Sivilli at (732) 727-4444, or Detective Heck at (732) 745-8842.
