Prisoners Offered Internships at Sansone Auto Mall

The program is specifically meant for veteran inmates

Middlesex County and Sansone Auto Mall have partnered together for a pilot program called Veteran Inmate Employment Program.

The program will give qualifying inmates a chance to be hired at Sansone Auto Mall Woodbridge. If there is no opening there, Sansone may refer the person to one of the other 500 dealerships in the state. It is the first of its kind to be implemented in the state.

Inmates must interview for and be selected into the program. From there, they attend job shadowing sessions and take part in an internship. Sanson could decide to hire them, based on qualifications and availability.

To quality, the inmate must either be a veteran or be the immediate family of a veteran, and be scheduled to be released within six months of applying to the program.

“Middlesex County was selected to host our first veteran inmate interaction session because of Freeholder Director Rios and the Board of Chosen Freeholder's strong support for our veterans,” said Richard Liebler, Sansone Veterans Administrator. “The program presented in Middlesex County will be the prototype for presentations to other county correction facilities as well as the State of New Jersey Department of Corrections.”
