Prom Jam 2011 Lights Up Woodbridge Center Mall

Crowds filled up Woodbridge Mall to watch stylish fashion shows, guest performances, and entertaining MCs in this year's Prom Jam.

Catchy strobe lights coupled with the latest new musical tracks being played by a cool and hip DJ, was the teen scene at Woodbridge Center Mall's Prom Jam 2011. Crowds of people gathered to see what the noise was all about, and although most of the audience members were teenagers, families and younger children also came out to the event.

The MC, Jason Stiles, was entertaining and charismatic, but the overall hype of the crowd rose dramatically when he surprised the audience by introducing his co-host for the evening, Kerry Schwartz, a famous VH1 reality star who attained celebrity status when she won on the VH1 show, "Frank the Entertainer in a Basement Affair."

Kamini Patel, a resident of Edison, was enthusiastically watching the fashion show with her husband and her young son. The noise, commotion, and sheer excitement of the show was contagious. Every mall shopper who walked past the big center-stage, and DJ booth stopped to see what extravaganza came to Woodbridge this time.

"It's a weekend so we are at the mall to do some shopping. We were walking by and saw all these people here and heard the music so we stopped to see it," Patel said.

Before the fashion show, the audience was given another big surprise: an unannounced guest performance by MTV's Adam Barta, who entertained the audience with his new hit single, "V.I.P." Barta was just as eccentric and outgoing as he appears to be in his music video; he kept the crowd going with his unpredictable screams, dance moves, and of course his melodic voice. He even chose a lucky audience member up on stage with him to help him sing and dance.

George R., a resident of Woodbridge, said, "I am not really into Adam Barta's music or anything, but I've seen him on MTV and I know this song because my girlfriend likes it a lot."

Every model who so gracefully walked the runway at this year's Prom Jam was a student from one of the three high schools in Woodbridge Township. Each model was introduced by first name, high school, and then a brief description of her dress or his tuxedo was given. Each wardrobe piece, prom dress, or tuxedo was provided by a store in Woodbridge. The most commonly announced prom dress providers were Allure, Sears, Macy's, Lord & Taylor, and Ultimate Fashions, while Men's Warehouse provided most of the tuxedo wear.

A good time was definitely had by all!
