Raccoon With Rabies Found in Woodbridge This Week
The raccoon was seen on Greco Lane in Woodbridge Township Tuesday acting strangely and out during daylight hours.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A raccoon trapped on Tuesday, May 9 in the vicinity of Greco Lane in Woodbridge Township has tested positive for the rabies virus, the Woodbridge Township Department of Health & Human Services announced Friday.
On Tuesday, Woodbridge Animal Control responded to a report of raccoon acting in an abnormal manner during daylight hours. The responding Animal Control officer was able to net and capture the raccoon. Subsequent investigation determined that there was no indication that the raccoon had come into contact with any resident or domestic pet.
The raccoon's carcass was transported to the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) forensic laboratory for standard rabies evaluation. The DOH advised Woodbridge Animal Control on Friday, May 12 that the raccoon had tested positive for rabies.
