Two Rutgers Victims Robbed at Gunpoint in Two Days
Rutgers University police issued a safety warning to students and faculty.

Two different people associated with Rutgers University were robbed at gunpoint this week in two back-to-back robberies, New Brunswick police said.
The armed robberies both occurred within hours of each other late Wednesday night.
The first robbery occured Wednesday, Nov. 18 at approximately 10:55 p.m. in the area of Nichol Avenue and Handy Street.

The victim, who is affiliated with Rutgers University, said he was approached by three men, one of whom showed a handgun and demanded his valuables. The perpetrators then fled the area on foot towards Jones Avenue. The victim was not hurt.
The perpetrators were described as follows: A male wearing a black jacket with red accents, the second male 5’7” inches tall with dreadlocks wearing an orange jacket, and the third male wearing all black clothing.

The second robbery occurred just a few hours later, at 2:25 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 on Senior Street between Wyckoff Street and Easton Avenue.
Again, the victim was part of RU, and he said he was approached by two men who showed a handgun and demanded his money. The suspects also fled on foot, and nobody was injured.
The two suspects are described as 5’8” to 5’10” in height and wearing black hoodie jackets.
Police did not respond when asked if the two armed robberies are related.
However, New Brunswick police are actively investigating both incidents, and ask that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact the New Brunswick Police Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
And campus police issued this warning to students and faculty:
• Immediately report suspicious activity to local law enforcement;
• Remaining alert and aware of the people and circumstances around you;
• Avoid isolated or dark areas;
• Walking in groups when traveling during late night hours.
