Sayreville EMT Charged With Sex Assault

Police say he met the 16-year-old victim through Facebook and exchanged information with her.

Sayreville, NJ - A 21 year-old EMT from Sayreville has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child under the age of 16.

The EMT, Christopher McHugh, 21, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, was arrested Thursday, and charged with sexual assault in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child in the third degree. He is a volunteer at the Morgan First Aid Squad in Sayreville and a full-time EMT for Stress Free Medical Transportation in Edison.

Police say he met the 16-year-old victim through Facebook and exchanged information with her. Their meeting, and alleged assault, took place Wednesday, police said. When McHugh was arrested he was wearing his Morgan First Aid Squad shirt.

He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick, waiting for bail to be set.
