Seton Hall University's WSOU 89.5 FM Celebrates Record Store Day Special Programming and Giveaways Planned for Sat, April 18th, 2015

South Orange, NJ – WSOU 89.5 FM, Seton Hall University’s student-run radio station, will present a live broadcast in honor of Record Store Day on Saturday April 18, 2015 from Vintage Vinyl Records, in Fords New Jersey, from 2 – 4 p.m. The broadcast will feature interviews, special requests, and more. Record Store Day is an annual event for independent record stores as well as for the music and broadcast industries, as record labels issue special edition “Record Store Day” releases and radio stations partner with record stores in their communities.

“We are lucky to have Vintage Vinyl, one of the best independent record stores in the country, only 20 miles away from our studios”, said Jennifer Kajzer, WSOU’s Underwriting Sales and Marketing Manager. “WSOU has had a long-standing relationship with Vintage Vinyl. For decades now, when listeners have heard a band on WSOU that they never heard of before, it is local independent stores like Vintage Vinyl they have turned to find new music and artists, especially those not yet in the mainstream.”

In addition to the live remote broadcast on April 18, WSOU is supporting Record Store Day beginning Wednesday April 15 by giving away on air some special edition releases as “Win It Before You Can But It,” including Clutch “From Beale Street to Oblivion” on vinyl, Metallica “No Life ‘Till Leather” cassette tapes, Stone Sour’s EP of cover songs “Meanwhile in Burbank,” and more.

“As it becomes ever more challenging for independent radio stations and independent music stores to survive, it makes sense for us to work together,” said Kajzer.
