Shoplifting Arrest at Woodbridge Center Mall

A man was arrested Friday for shoplifting from the Dick's Sporting Goods and Macy's, police report.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ - A Newark man was arrested Friday at the Woodbridge Center Mall and charged with shoplifting from the Macy's and Dick's Sporting Goods, Woodbridge police said.

Woodbridge police were called to the Macy's at 3 p.m. Friday after a store security officers said he observed via CCTV Jeffrey Petty put multiple items in a shopping bag and then try to walk out of the store. Petty, 25, of Newark was found with $220 worth of items in the bag, police said. Also on scene was the manager from Dick's Sporting Goods, who said Petty had in his possession $180 worth of shoplifted items from the Dick's as well.

Macy's and Dick's retained all their merchandise at the scene. Petty was found to have multiple warrants for his arrest, from Union Twp., Irvington, Newark and Elizabeth.
