Special Election - Woodbridge Fire District

Voters have a chance to vote on a tax increase.

Special Election- Woodbridge Fire District 1!

On Tuesday, December 4th, Woodbridge Fire District 1 is holding a "special election" which seeks voter approval to purchase 4 new vehicles.
Today's Home News Tribune has given the election 'Front Page' status. The article addresses my opposition to the expenditures, and increase taxes that shall come with it. The article speaks to Charles Kenny's and John McCormac's rational for the expenditures.
Lest anyone think my position on this matter is anti- firefighter, they should note I am the nephew of two(2) decorate and highly honored Rumsom Fire Chiefs (deceased). My memories of them, and their community services, instilled in me a very profound respect for our "Bravest"! So my opposition is based on the merits of the expenditures and who benefits from it.
Voters should keep in mind the following :
*Fire District 1 has the biggest budge of any fire district in the township.
*The District has done fine for all these years with their own snow plowing truck. They can clear their driveway with a snowblower or manpower.
* The township should make our firehouses and First Aid Squads it's top priority when plowing is necessary.
(Perhaps, John McCormac is conveniently ignoring the fact that if the township doesn't clear the roads the firehouses and squads, they may be delayed in responding to calls. (I certainly hope McCormac or Charley Kenny don't plan to have our Bravist plow their own way to a fire!)
* Thanks to McCormac's Pilot Programs tax abatements, all our fire districts (like our schools) lose out on those tax revenues.
* McCormac has used revenues from his Pilot Programs, revenues which go into his General Fund 'piggy bank', to buy vehicles for other Fire District and First Aid Squad.
In summary, among the favorite mantas of those who play on the emotional sensitivities of votes are: "It's for the children", "It's so we can serve you better" or "It for your safety". Enough already with those platitudes already! How about some "Let's shave the Tay payers some money"?
At least taxpayers will have a chance to that themselves, if they just get out and VOTE!
