Stabbing Tuesday in Menlo Park Mall Parking Lot

Patrons were leaving the Fox and Hound sports bar at 2:12 a.m. when two men got into an argument, Edison police said.

Edison, NJ - Here is more info on the stabbing in the parking lot of the Menlo Park Mall we told you about earlier: The stabbing actually occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, not Wednesday as previously reported.

A 23-year-old Carteret man was stabbed in the chest early Tuesday during a dispute in the parking lot outside the Fox & Hound sports bar, Edison police said.

A dispute between two men erupted at 2:12 a.m. Tuesday, just after the Fox & Hound closed, according to an initial investigation by police Officer Jeffrey Hozeny. The reason for the argument is unknown, police said.

After words were exchange, one of the men used a folding knife to stab the other in the upper chest before driving off, police said.

The stabbing victim was driven by a companion to nearby JFK Medical Center in Edison. After he was treated in the emergency room, the victim was transferred to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he is listed in stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses described the suspect as a dark-skinned, African-American man with a medium build wearing dark clothing. Descriptions of the vehicle that he drove away in were vague, police said.
