Suspect Sought in Perth Amboy Hit and Run

The hit and run occurred at 10 p.m. Friday; the car was backing up on Penn Street.

PERTH AMBOY, NJ - Perth Amboy police are continuing to search for the person responsible for a hit-and-run Friday night that struck a pedestrian near the intersection of Penn and Lawrie streets. A vehicle of interest is a white colored sedan that was parked on the corner of Penn and Lawrie streets. The hit and run occurred at 10 p.m. Friday, when the pedestrian was crossing and was struck by the sedan that was backing up onto Penn Street. The vehicle fled southbound on Penn Street, police said.

In an unrelated incident, a Woodbridge man was indicted this summer for a hit and run in Perth Amboy in July. Pishoi Bakoom was charged with aggravated assault, assault by auto, knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury, endangering an injured victim and hindering apprehension or prosecution. The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with multiple injuries.
