Woodbridge Man Charged with Hit and Run in Perth Amboy

A 27-year-old Woodbridge man was charged Monday with seriously injuring a pedestrian and fleeing the scene of the accident in Perth Amboy.

Woodbridge, NJ - A 27-year-old Woodbridge man was charged Monday with seriously injuring a pedestrian and fleeing the scene of the accident in Perth Amboy.

Pishoi Bakoom, 27, of Woodbridge, was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash after causing serious bodily injury; obstruction of justice, and endangering an injured victim, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey and Deputy Chief Lawrence Cattano of the Perth Amboy Police Department.

Bakoom was driving a 2012 BMW coupe south on Convery Boulevard on Friday, June 24 and fled after striking Jose Magalhaes, 57, of Perth Amboy as he was crossing the street at the Harding Avenue intersection at 11:11 p.m. that day, police said.

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he is being treated for multiple injuries. He is listed in stable condition.

The defendant was released after posting $25,000 bail.
