Three Students From High Schools In Woodbridge, Edison Honored For Essays At Law Day Ceremony
The Middlesex County Bar Foundation honored the three students who wrote winning essays, along with a mock trial team from Monroe.

Three students, including one who attends school in Woodbridge, were honored by the Middlesex County Bar Foundation last week.
On Thursday, the bar foundation honored the winners of the 15th Annual Project Law Essay Contest for Middlesex County high school students. The event was part of the Law Day ceremony held at the Middlesex County state Superior Court in New Brunswick.
The winners were Atul Bhattiprolu from the Middlesex County Academy for Allied Health and Biomedical Sciences in Woodbridge, and Isabel Li and Parshv Shah, who both attend John P. Stevens High School in Edison.

“The Project Law Essay Contest’s basic objectives are to help high school students to develop and refine their writing and communication skills, to help them gain a better understanding of our legal system and their rights and responsibilities as citizens, and to encourage them to seek higher education,’’ according to a news release from the bar foundation.
This year, almost 300 students submitted essays about publicity rights and the First Amendment.

During the same ceremony, Monroe Township High School students were honored for winning the 2014-15 Vincent J. Apruzzese High School Mock Trial Middlesex County Championship, according to a news release.
Team members were: Attorneys: Anne Ballman, Michelle Barclay, Rachel Gentile and Ankita Satpathy; Witnesses: Jasmine Elshamy, Lucas Fox, Nina Gharaibeh, Alison Levier, Matthew Maiolo, and Theresa Zieser; Backups: Lauren Gaskel, Martin Hluchy, Brianna La Russa, Amy Lassiter, Harshini Malli, Jeremy Mammen, Raghavi Nimmala, Toni Rothchild, Amy Williamson, and Irum Yasmin; Team Manager - Bridget Slomian; and Faculty Coach/Attorney Advisor - Giuseppe G. Calella.
