Was your NJ Transit train commute delayed Thursday morning?
Five lines are running on up to 30-minute delays Thursday after a New York-bound NJ Transit train got stuck in a tube under the Hudson River, about 1/4 mile south of Penn Station. 1,200 people were on board the train when it got stuck due to mechanical failure at about 8:14 a.m. Thursday.
The train was able to back into the station under its own power, and the passengers disembarked at 8:47 a.m., Craig Schulz, an Amtrak spokesman said. A command center was set up, and the FDNY did respond, just in case they had to remove passengers from the train via emergency exits under the tunnel, he said.
