Two Injured In St. George's Crash Thursday Night By SubWorks

What appeared to be a very serious car accident occurred at 9:40 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of St. George's Avenue and Avenel Street.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — What appeared to be a very serious car accident occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of St. George's Avenue (Rt. 35) and Avenel Street, a main intersection on the Colonia-Avenel border. That's the intersection right by SubWorks and the Woodbridge Walgreens.

Two cars were involved, and the driver of one car was trapped inside, Woodbridge traffic patrol officer Joseph Angelo told Patch. Originally, the injuries were bad enough to warrant a medevac helicopter being called, which was going to use Avenel Middle School as a landing zone. But the helicopter was determined not needed and called off, he said.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, Officer Angelo said.
