ODESSA, UKRAINE — "This is for the ones who stood their ground."

Odessa is the third most populous city in Ukraine and a major seaport on the Black Sea. It's located on the southwest edge of the country.
Military experts have said an attempt to capture Odessa, which has so far been spared the bombardment and fighting seen in coastal areas further east, is possible given its strategic and symbolic importance to Ukraine.
More than half of Ukraine's imports and exports move through the port, they told Reuters, and it is the last major city between Russian forces that have advanced past Kherson to the east and the border Ukraine shares with NATO member Romania to the west.
