Vito Mazza Staffers 'Move Like Woodbridge'

Hair stylists at the Main Street Salon did their Three Minutes Dance Thursday morning in honor of the township's 'get moving' program.

Thursday might've looked like a normal day on Main Street, but all that changed at 10 am. That was when salon employees dropped their shears, combs, and blow dryers, and started shaking to the rhythm of a township event to get residents into exercise.

"It's fun," said Vito Mazza Jr., who was helping round up the salon stylists for the 10 am event. The idea of moving one's groove thing came from Council President Gregg Ficarra, a Perth Amboy physical ed teacher who is a fan of all things athletic.

The song was a play on the Maroon 5 song, "Shakes Like Jagger," a reference to Mick Jagger of Rolling Stones fame.

The word quickly spread to the and local businesses to shake as one for three minutes on March 22. Schools in the area participated, as did and other local establishments. Mayor John McCormac was reportedly twisting and turning at Avenel Street School, but that could not be confirmed.

Ann Mazza, Vito Jr.'s spouse and the salon's event coordinator, was glad they were participating. "It's healthy and fun," she said.

Even Vito Mazza Sr., the founder of the longtime salon, was enjoying the three minute workout.

"It's great!" he said, smiling broadly. "We ought to do this every day!"
