WATCH: On-Duty N.J. Cop Caught Taking Undercover Car On Out-of-Town Dates, Attorney Says

A video reportedly shows a N.J. cop taking an undercover police vehicle to visit his romantic partner while he was supposed to be working.

A N.J. cop was reportedly suspended after an investigation showed that he took an undercover police vehicle to visit his romantic partner while he was supposed to be working.

Sgt. Carmelo Jimenez served his eight-day suspension and repaid 27 hours of pay to Perth Amboy for taking the car out-of-town during work hours, according to nj.com.

The trips to Woodbridge were revealed - and a video came to light - after an internal affairs complaint filed by local attorney Daniel Gonzalez, according to nj.com.

That video was filmed from an apartment above Il Castello’s in Woodbridge, Gonzalez told Patch. The restaurant is a well known Italian restaurant on Main Street.

The officer has investigated or arrested some of Gonzalez’s clients in his time helping run the city’s narcotics squad, according to nj.com.

Gonzalez said he hired a private investigator to film Jimenez and got access to videos showing the undercover vehicle sitting for hours on a Woodbridge street after Jimenez got out.
