Linden, NJ - A woman crashed through a railing and was ejected from her car Saturday in Linden — all after she stopped at a local Wendy's and forgot to put her car in park.

At 12:16 p.m. on Saturday, the 72-year-old woman pulled up in her 2004 Jaguar X3 to the drive-up window at the Wendy’s on South Wood Avenue. When she received her food, a drink spilled onto her seat, and the woman got out of her vehicle to clean it, apparently without putting the car into park, Linden police said. As the car began to move forward, the woman got back into the driver's seat and, while attempting to press the brake pedal, she instead accidentally hit the gas pedal and the car accelerated. The car struck a railing at the Wendy's before accelerating onto South Wood Avenue, police said.

The car drove across South Wood Ave before striking a curb and ejecting the woman onto the roadway. The woman struck her head on the curb and sustained a serious injury. She was transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment.
