Woman Missing, Son Critically Injured In Woodbridge House Fire

A man was critically injured and his elderly mother remains missing after a house fire on Greenbrook Avenue Friday morning:

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A man was critically injured and his elderly mother remains missing after a Woodbridge house fire Friday morning, according to Mayor John McCormac, Woodbridge Police and Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.

The fire broke out in the 3 a.m. hour Friday at a home on Greenbrook Avenue in the Keasbey section of Woodbridge.

When firefighters got there, they found the house engulfed in flames. Shortly thereafter, the house collapsed.

An adult man was pulled from the burning home and he is currently hospitalized for critical burn injuries, said the mayor. McCormac said information is still scant, but all he could say at this time is that the man's elderly mother remains unaccounted for.

His mother is still missing at this time, confirmed a spokesperson for the Middlesex County Prosecutor's office.

The woman, in her 70s, and her adult son, 53, lived together in the home. ABC News reported the man has special needs and he and his mother lived on the block for decades.

ABC also reports that authorities brought in a cadaver dog to help in the search.
