Woodbridge Cracking Down on Texting and Driving

Woodbridge police are participating in a special New Jersey statewide crackdown on texting and driving that begins April 1.

Woodbridge, NJ - Woodbridge police are participating in a special New Jersey statewide crackdown on texting and driving that begins April 1 and lasts until April 21 of this year, Sgt. Eric Nelson, head of the department's traffic division, told Patch.

Police will be adding extra patrols to target those who text and drive, and additionally, will be targeting roads on the township that have more crashes and have been found to be dangerous, he said.

Did you know? Over the past few years, the Woodbridge police department has written more than 1,000 tickets to people for texting and driving (distracted driving is the official charge). And nationally, twenty-five percent of teenagers respond to a text message at least once every time they drive, according to a 2012 study by the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute.
