Woodbridge Man Charged With DWI In Death Of Colonia Man
A Woodbridge man is charged with drinking and driving, which police say caused a fatal May 6 accident that killed his friend, of Colonia.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A Woodbridge man has been charged with drinking and driving, which police say caused a fatal car crash that killed his friend, also of Woodbridge Township.
The fiery crash occurred in the early morning hours last Sunday, May 6 in Piscataway Twp. Tayib Mahmood, 29, of Woodbridge, was driving a 2014 Toyota Camry when he hit a concrete barrier on Stelton Road near Jessie Way; the car caught fire.
Mahmood was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital with serious injuries and underwent immediate surgery. The passenger, Tahir Jamile, was pronounced dead at the scene. Jamile, 27, is from the Colonia section of Woodbridge.

On Wednesday, Mahmood was criminally charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, driving under the influence in a school zone, reckless and careless driving and failure to maintain lane.

Mahmood is scheduled to appear in New Brunswick for his initial court appearance on June 12, 2018. The crash is being investigated by Sergeant Constance Crea of the Piscataway Police Department and Detective Erik Larsen of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
