Woodbridge Man Sentenced For Drunk, High Fatal Crash

The passenger who died, Tahir Jamile, 27, was from the Colonia section. The driver was Tayib Mahmood, 29, of Woodbridge.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A Woodbridge man was sentenced Monday to serve seven years in prison for causing the death of his 27-year old passenger while driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, according to the Middlesex County prosecutor.

Tayib Mahmood, 29, of Woodbridge, pleaded guilty last year to vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated for the May 6, 2018 crash in Piscataway. The passenger who died, Tahir Jamile, 27, was from the Colonia section of Woodbridge.

The fatal crash happened in the early morning hours of May 6, 2018 on Stelton Road in Piscataway: Mahmood, while intoxicated, was driving a 2014 Toyota Camry. He hit a concrete barrier on Stelton Road near Jessie Way and the car caught fire.

Jamile was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Mahmood pleaded guilty last year to causing his death while under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. He must serve 85 percent of his term, and when he is released, he will lose his license for seven years.
