Woodbridge Police Dept. Promotes Three Officers To Sergeant

On Monday, Mayor John McCormac announced the promotion of three Woodbridge Twp. Police officers to the rank of sergeant.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — On Monday, Mayor John McCormac announced the promotion of three Woodbridge Township Police officers to the rank of sergeant.

"The public safety mission of the Woodbridge Police Department is our most important priority," said McCormac Monday. "As a result of our commitment to public safety, combined with the increased assignment of uniformed officers to street patrol, the Woodbridge Police Department continues to maintain police ranks at a maximum staffing level effectively protecting public safety.”

Joining Mayor McCormac to announce the promotions were Police Director Joseph Nisky, Capt. Brian Murphy, Chief Law Enforcement Officer, Municipal Clerk John Mitch and families and friends.

Promoted were:

Sergeant Andrew Kondracki:

Kondracki is an 18-year veteran of the Woodbridge Police Department having joined the force in 2008 taking up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division as a patrol officer. In 2013, Kondracki was promoted to detective and was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. While in CID, Kondracki took on responsibilities that included assignment to the Department of Homeland Security Task Force. He will be assigned to the Radio Patrol Division as a squad sergeant.

Sergeant Perry Penna:

Penna is a 13-year veteran of the Woodbridge Police Department having joined the force in 2013. Penna began his career in the Radio Patrol Division as a patrol officer. In 2019, he became a detective assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. While in CID, he worked with the FBI Task Force. Penna will be assigned to the Radio Patrol Division as a squad sergeant.

Detective Sergeant Brian Vella:

Vella, a 20-year veteran of the Woodbridge Police Department, joined the force in 2006. Vella began his career in the Radio Patrol Division as a patrol officer. In 2018, Vella was promoted to detective and was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, where he worked with the Juvenile Aid Bureau. Vella will work as the Community Affairs Sergeant.
