WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Woodbridge police are warning residents about a door-to-door solicitation that is apparently affecting many residents in the Township: A company called Direct Energy has a permit to solicit door-to-door in Woodbridge about their third-party energy supply services.
However, this is not a program or service that the Township has sanctioned or that the Township is sponsoring, the police said.
"Direct Energy should not be mentioning the Mayor, Township Council members, or Township administration in their sales pitch to residents," the WPD wrote on Facebook. "Direct Energy representatives must display a Township-issued photo ID on their outer clothing which entitles them to canvass in our neighborhoods, but they cannot insinuate or state in any manner that Woodbridge Township endorses their products or services."
