Woodbridge Received 280 Fireworks Complaints; 20 People Charged

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — After warning that this year — for the first time ever — the town would be doing an unprecedented fireworks crackdown, Woodbridge Twp. made good on its threat and published the names of 20 people who police say were caught with illegal fireworks over the weekend.

As Patch reported, Woodbridge police stepped up neighborhood patrols from Wednesday, July 1 through Sunday, July 5. Police responded to more than 280 illegal fireworks complaints this year, the town said.

Woodbridge also has a database of addresses in town where illegal fireworks have been reported in the past "and we will be monitoring those locations," Mayor McCormac warned.

Twenty people total were issued a complaint/summonses charging Sale and/or Possession of Illegal Fireworks:

• Omar Rivera, 40, Pershing Avenue, Iselin - Possession of Illegal Fireworks - Aerial Display;
• Daniel G. Dever, 34, Maryknoll Road, Metuchen - Possession of Illegal Fireworks;
