The man was identified as Thomas Kilroy Jr. of the Avenel section of town, according to myCentralJersey.com.
An Amtrak spokesperson released the identity of the man, because that agency is investigating the incident, according to NJ.com.

Kilroy, was hit by a New York-bound train, shortly after 5 a.m. Friday, near the Metropark station.
The Amtrak spokesman told NJ.com that Kilroy was “unauthorized to be on the tracks.”
